Introduction

Romantic, sentimental, and eloquent, Fen is truly a poet at heart, and his personal dream is to publish his poetry and write adventurous epics – stories of noble heroes and true love conquering all. He is very similar to Rodion in that regard, but only to an extent. Though he shares the bard-like passion for art, romanticism, and the written word, Fen is no performer and lacks the gregarious, entertainer personality. He is very introverted and private. He would rather write books than engage with an audience.

One person he does wish to engage with is Jenifyr Liamnoen, a half-elf armorer and fellow co-worker at the workshop.

As two of the younger employees in the crew, they are initially drawn to each other due to their closeness in age and their alternative styles, both with dyed hair. Jenifyr seems interested in Fen’s artistic poet persona. And it isn’t long before they become romantically involved.

They are a couple not meant to last, however.

As patient and understanding as Jenifyr tries to be with Fen’s jealousy and feelings of inadequacy, his constant somber, sulking mood begins to weigh heavy on her more carefree personality.

And other clashes cause more rifts in their relationship. Whereas Jenifyr is attracted to city life, Fen feels it contributes to his misery and desires a more rural, isolated area where he can peacefully work on his writing. Fen is more traditional in regards to romance and how he wants to live, while Jenifyr is more unconventional and modern.

Being half-elf and human, the eventual aging issue becomes a concern as well, as Jenifyr realizes she isn’t in love and not willing to make a sacrifice for something she doesn’t feel committed to.

In the end, their differences prove to be incompatible, and Fen’s emotional, brooding nature becomes too much for Jenifyr.

She consequently breaks up with him, and also leaves the workshop, ready to move on from Fen, and from Neverwinter.

A heart-broken Fen falls even more into a depression. When Valkilmar and Fenella flee Neverwinter, he abruptly quits the workshop job on the spot, no longer having any reason to keep him in the city.

Though motivated by upsetting circumstances, these events trigger a spark in Fen, finally being the catalyst he needed to get out of Neverwinter and pursue his rural life as a writer.
